As the world starts to travel again, Ghana continues to be the preferred travel destination for those wanting to learn more about Africa, especially those of the Diaspora. With the growth of African Americans going to visit Ghana, we decided to create a tourism company that specializes with a focus on Ghana. Welcome friends and Family to Travel2Ghana where we look to work with you to make your interest in Ghana a reality.

ITINERARY

Through our 8-day and 7-night expertly-curated experience, you can explore what Ghana’s beautiful culture has in store for you, your family, friends, and social group. Guests will be given the opportunity to purchase African attire. Expect to interact with Ghana’s top designer to create an outfit of your choice. There will also be an array of night life experiences to partake in.

DAY 1

Arrival Day: Check-In & Welcome Dinner

Arrive at Kotoka International Airport, in Accra.

Transfer to hotel.

Check into the hotel, and then continue with Welcome Dinner.

Spend the night dancing away during Salsa Night at Afrikiko.

DAY 2

Nkrumah Mausoleum, Art Center, W. E.B. Du Bois Center & Independence Square

After breakfast, leave the hotel and start the sightseeing process we will visit the W. E. B. Dubois Centre for Pan African Culture, then continue our journey to Independence Square also known as Black Star Square.

Next is Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, a museum dedicated to the country’s founding father.

The tour ends with a visit to one of Ghana’s largest markets—Arts Centre—where you will get to experience all of Ghana in one place.

DAY 3

Cape Coast & Kakum National Park

After breakfast, leave the hotel, and head to Elmina Castle. Built by the Portuguese in 1482 and was first established as a trade settlement, Elmina Castle later became one of the most important stops on the route of the Atlantic Slave trade.

After lunch we will continue to Kakum National Park. It is one of only 3 locations in Africa with a canopy of 7 walkways, which is 350 metres (1,150 feet) long, and connects seven tree tops which provides access to the forest.

We will spend a night in Elmina and return to Accra the next day.

DAY 4

Aburi Botanical Garden & Art Center

After breakfast, leave the hotel and head to Aburi. Since opening in 1890, Aburi Botanical Garden, the now century-old garden was originally established as a sanatorium for Gold Coast government officials. The garden has had many roles over the years, including plant introduction, teaching methods of modern agriculture, and has played an important role in cocoa production in South Ghana

Aburi Arts Village is an amazing place to see and purchase some incredible woodcraft. There are crafts of all kinds from masks, carved animals, beadwork, and fabrics.

DAY 5

Day of Giving: Akropong School for the Blind & Okuapemman East Orange Clinic Visits

After breakfast, head to Akropong, Akuapem, where my father was the ruling chief. We will begin our Day of Giving at Akropong School for the Blind, and then continue with a visit to Okuapemman East Orange Clinic.

We are asking our guests to bring items such as book bags, pencils, and pens, for the school. For the clinic, ask our guests to bring hospital items such as Band Aids, first aid kits, Q-Tips, rubbing alcohol, etc.

DAY 6

BBQ Day Party at Prampram Beach House

Enjoy breakfast then prepare for the BBQ Day Party at Prampram Beach House.

Relax, wear all white, then come eat, party, swim, and walk along the beach.

DAY 7

Akosombo: Lake Volta & Lunch at Bridgeview Hotel

After Breakfast prepare to leave to Akosombo.

The Akosombo Dam—also known as the Volta Dam—is on the Volta River in southeast Ghana. At 124 meters tall and 660 meters long, the structure holds back the waters of Lake Volta, the largest man-made lake in the world, by surface area.

Continue with Lunch at the Bridgeview Hotel.

DAY 8

Free Day: Farewell Lunch & Last Minute Shopping

Free day.

Farewell Lunch.

Last minute shopping before returning to the United States.

*Lunch will be provided by Travel2Ghana on the following days: Day One’s Welcome Lunch, Day Six’s BBQ, Day Eight’s Farewell Lunch.
